There is a quiet wisdom within the body—one that is constantly communicating, guiding, and seeking balance.
Yet in today’s fast-paced world, many of us have been conditioned to override these signals. To push through. To wait until something feels serious enough to address.
But what if we shifted that perspective entirely? And consider....
Your body is not working against you—it’s always working for you.
We believe this is the foundation of proactive health—and a powerful lens for supporting women’s health in a more sustainable, holistic way.
Proactive health is the practice of listening to your body early and responding with care, rather than waiting for symptoms to escalate.
It moves us from:
Reactive health care → Preventative health care
Symptom management → Whole-person wellbeing
Disconnection → Awareness and relationship
For women especially, navigating hormonal cycles and life transitions, are often highly empathetic and hold layered responsibilities. Embracing proactive health creates a restorative and intuitive pathway back to balance, vitality, and long-term wellbeing.
And establishes a legacy where our children watch, learn, act on their own proactivity!

One of the most important aspects of proactive health is recognising the early signals the body sends.
These often include:
Ongoing fatigue or low energy
Sleep disturbances
Hormonal imbalances
Digestive discomfort or bloating
Skin inflammation or sensitivity
Feelings of stress, overwhelm, or disconnection
These are not random symptoms or inconveniences —they are intelligent signals from the body that knows us best and early indicators of imbalance. They are an invitation to listen and act!
Our founder Amanda Parker, after more than three decades in clinical practice, believes one truth remains constant - the body whispers before it shouts. And when we learn to listen, we can respond before deeper health challenges develop. This is the most beautiful relationship we will ever have - the true meaning of self love.
Proactive health is not built through extremes—it’s created through small, consistent daily choices. This includes:
Nourishing the body with whole, nutrient-dense foods
Creating space for rest and nervous system regulation
Spending time in nature
Developing daily rituals of self-connection
Over time, these small practices support hormonal balance, energy levels, immune health, and emotional wellbeing. Leading beautifully and most importantly, to a healthy, intimate relationship with Self.

Our remedial organic loose leaf herbal tisanes are a beautiful connection to creating simple, meaningful rituals of self care and space to breath, reset during the day. While it takes no time at all to boil water, add tea to the pot or tea ball strainer and bring it all together in your cup - you are creating a mini ritual when making your tea mindfully. Our teas smell divine from the moment you open the airtight container and spoon your tea - leaves, blossoms, fruit, roots, into the teapot or strainer. adding the just of boil hot water elevates the aroma another level and the water starts to infuse colour seeping from the blend. The cup raised to inhale and take the first sip...yet another moment to savour. Moments have passed and yet you are transported to a space in-between worlds where you can simply be.
Creating simple daily rituals of connection and self care

An often-overlooked part of proactive and preventative health is what we are exposed to daily.
Modern life brings with it a constant layer of environmental and chemical exposure—from skincare and personal care products to household items and even food systems.
Without creating fear or overwhelm, there is growing awareness around the importance of:
Reducing exposure to unnecessary synthetic chemicals
Choosing natural, organic skincare where possible
Supporting the body with whole, pesticide-free foods
Being mindful of cumulative, long-term exposure
Our skin is our largest organ, and what we apply to it matters.
Equally, what we consume and absorb daily plays a role in our overall health, hormonal balance, and inflammatory load.
This doesn’t require perfection—but it does invite awareness.
Small shifts toward non-toxic living and natural wellness can become a powerful extension of proactive health....for a lifetime of health and wellness!
(This is a deeper conversation we’ll continue exploring in future articles. For now read here Why Natural Organic Skincare Matters for Long-Term Skin Health)

Despite increased awareness, many women still place their health at the bottom of the list. Common barriers include:
Time constraints and competing responsibilities leading to dismissal of symptoms.
Caregiving roles in many directions and spaces, prioritising others needs..
Guilt around rest or self-care, seeing rest as something that needs to be earned.
Feeling unheard, unseen or dismissed.
The never ending to do list aka Wonder Woman identity crisis.
This is often not simply personal—it reflects broader cultural patterns.
Supporting women’s health means not only educating individuals, but also creating environments—in homes, workplaces, and communities—where wellbeing is supported and prioritised. And the establishment of healthy boundaries where "no" is an ok word, not as failure or being seen as selfish!
Proactive health is not a checklist—it’s a relationship. A relationship with:
When we begin to listen and respond rather than override, we shift from crisis management… to conscious care. Women are cyclical by Nature, when we move in harmony with the natural rhythms that intuitively and physically guide us, an inner coherence builds, nourishing and nurturing our very essence - this is where true vitality is built.
True health extends beyond the physical body.
A holistic approach to health recognises the interconnected nature of:
Physical wellbeing
Emotional health
Nervous system regulation
Environmental and lifestyle influences
Integrating both modern science, quantum and traditional, nature-based practices allows for a more complete and supportive approach to healing and optimal outcomes.
Proactive health is most effective when it is supported by collaborative, integrative care. East + West = Holistic.
We need to move from reactive care to empowered wellbeing working alongside practitioners such as:
Creating a more comprehensive support system for women that is holistic in nature.
This holistic “circle of care” approach ensures that health is not treated in isolation, but supported across multiple dimensions. Especially when cross referral is accompanied with cross - sharing of information with the client / patient and also the respective Practitioners, enabling a greater depth of awareness and connection and empowered pathways.

The future of women’s health lies in:
Greater education and awareness
Prevention-focused healthcare systems
Integration of natural and complementary therapies
Listening to women’s lived experiences
And importantly, in building cultures—at home and in community—where women feel seen and unconditionally supported to prioritise their wellbeing.

Your body is always communicating.
Not to disrupt you—
but to guide you.
Not to work against you—
but to bring you back into balance.
Your body is not working against you—it’s always working for you. To hold you in a flow of coherence and vitality.
When we begin to listen, make conscious choices, be proactive and support one another, we create the foundation for true, lasting health.
To your health and happiness,
Amanda & Team Mayella xx

Our special thanks to Anjali Woodward founder of Gold Coast Women's Health Networking Platform for the inspiration behind our blog.
Amanda was thrilled to be invited by Anjali to be sharing a seat on the panel next to Dr. Zane Sherif of Mermaid Beach Radiology & Health, Dr. Elise Turner GP Specialist in all things Women's Health, Peri/Menopause. The MC Caroline Brunne Breath work coordinator and Trauma Survivor Coach lead us through sharing aspects of each of our knowledge and awareness in the field of Proactive Health.
The day was empowering - the energy in the audience and so uplifting and engaged. A beautiful reflection in support of Anjali Woodward and her Gold Coast Women's Health Networking Team on the intentions of the networking charity event to bring together modalities across all areas of Health & Wellness and bridging the gap between traditional and modern medicine to build a more compassionate and evolving health landscape.
Not a dry eye in the room after guest speaker Nicolle Edwards shared the day to day of RizeUp - the receiving charity of the event. Nicole is CEO & Founder of RizeUp Australia whose purpose is in in supporting families affected by domestic and family violence.

It's been a hot minute since we've shared anything personal about how Mayella ® came to be, so we thought it was time for a little trip down memory lane. What started as an idea became a shared mission.
Looking back on this interview feels a little like opening an old photo album—equal parts nostalgic, inspiring, and a reminder of why we started this journey in the first place.
Explore how wheatgrass may support mitochondrial function, reduce oxidative stress, and promote cellular vitality through chlorophyll, polyphenols, and antioxidant enzymes like SOD. A science-informed holistic guide to energy and healthy ageing.
Pro-ageing is the conscious choice to support the body’s natural evolution through nourishment, not resistance — where health is measured by vitality, not appearance.
In today’s world, the line between self-care and self-correction has become increasingly blurred.
We are navigating a landscape where “wellness” is often intertwined with aesthetic outcomes, and where ageing is subtly positioned as something to delay at all costs.
Pro-ageing invites a different question:
Are our choices supporting true health — or responding to external pressure?
